I felt a bit like a turncoat when I went to Jacques Torres’ new ice cream shop in DUMBO today, but I feel it’s prudent to keep abreast of the competition, right?  I had vanilla with caramel swirl in a homemade waffle cone with chocolate-covered pretzels as a (free) topping (but only for today).  It was pretty good, although I’m not typically one for toppings on my ice cream (on a whole, I prefer a more homogeneous composition). 
Now I’m just waiting for the probable lactose-intolerance fallout.
