Gone is much of the sexual innuendo, over-the-top trash talk, blood-splattering bouts and scantily clad female wrestlers that fueled the WWE’s “Attitude Era” of 10 years ago…Now McMahon, 64, is hawking a kinder, gentler, wrestling show.

No more falling two stories onto a floor covered in thumbtacks?  What do you think of this, annagrimm?

It’s hard to imagine a WWE without bloody foreheads, cleavage, and over-the-top testosterone. Hearing Triple H compare the violence level to that of Wile E. Coyote is a bit disheartening, as it seems most tune in for the inherent spectacle of the events. I suppose if ad revenue is down, the overall taming of the sport could help target new markets (younger kids?), or maybe they’re trying to clean up their act to win an endorsement from the Navy Seals, which is so much classier than the National Guard (sorry Kid Rock).
